Three months into my journey with Appnext, I would like to talk about my experience so far. I am a firm believer that first impressions count for a lot in business. The fact is, you can tell a lot about a company by how they treat job applicants and it is for this reason that I knew I wanted to be a part of  Appnext just a few minutes into my first interview. Right from the get-go, I was warmly welcomed and the entire interview process was explained to me in detail. As anyone who has ever applied for a job will know, it can be a nerve-racking and stressful time. But everyone at Appnext put me at ease – I was kept in the loop during every stage of the process and I never had to chase anyone for feedback. I was also given the chance to speak to several people in the team and I got to learn about their own experiences working at Appnext. I felt valued and even if I had not have been offered the job, I would have been left with nothing but a positive impression of the company.

It was soon after I joined the Appnext family in January that I truly learned what makes our company so unique. It is clear that everyone at Appnext is focused on creating an incomparable smartphone experience. We do this through innovation and developing new technology. However, another critical component to Appnext’s success that may sometimes get overlooked is the wonderful culture that runs through the company. In particular, the sincere respect and courtesy that I feel every colleague is afforded. No one’s role is too big and no job is too small – every single employee is valued in a way that is not often seen in large organizations that have offices worldwide. Something that has impressed me is how this culture of respect not only reaches all facets of the company, but also how it impacts our customers. It is our enthusiasm, dedication and passion for ensuring the best outcomes for them that guarantee we remain their partner of choice. We consistently get the results that our customers expect.

I am incredibly excited about Appnext’s future. The fact is, we are currently at the forefront of developing some of the most cutting-edge mobile technology. Appnext has always been focused on creating a synergy between users and their devices. The sheer reliance people have on smartphones today means we must ensure they are reaping the full benefits of new technology. We consistently talk about how users are seeking a more individualized mobile experience and I want to outline how we currently are doing this and also how we will make improvements in this area. Firstly, we are developing the artificial intelligence that powers our patented ‘Appnext Timeline’ technology. To be clear, such advancements will revolutionize how users interact with devices. For example, in e-commerce we have the power to make shopping a thrilling and immersive experience that will see smartphone technology better integrated into the physical purchasing realm. Of course, such tech will be facilitated by advances in AR and VR, which I am personally very much looking forward to. Or health & fitness apps – we could even see pressure eased on healthcare systems around the world as AI-powered medical assistants are able to diagnose as accurately as in-person doctor’s appointments. Fintech will also be vastly improved, with consumers able to get decisions on loans within seconds and receive complex financial and business advice from chatbots that can perfectly mimic human speech patterns.Truly, the possibilities are endless! More importantly, Appnext’s discovery solutions will continue to be at the forefront of delivering these wonderful and varied mobile experiences to users.

Lastly, I want to just say how proud I am to be the head of our vibrant team in Africa and to also be a part of the global team that comprises all of Appnext’s offices around the world. I am looking forward to seeing just how much we will continue growing as a company.
